MUSEUM OF THE ACADEMY OF ARTS

Founded in 1757, the Academy of Arts has played a significant role in the history of Russian art. Many of the works exhibited in the Russian Museum and in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow are by members of the Academy, such as Ivanov, Bryullov, Serov, and Repin. The actual Academy was moved to Moscow in 1947 and since then this building has housed the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. It is also the home of an exposition of works by past and present members.

Universitetskaya Naberezhnaya 17. Metro: Vasileostrovskaya. Open 11:00-18:00 Wednesday to Sunday. Tel: 213 3578.
